A Swiss–American Transmission
UTOPIA PLAY is the meeting point of two worlds:
Swiss precision and American poetry.
Electronic control and human fire.
Cold machinery and burning words.
Behind the production stands Popshop (Martin Akeret) — Swiss artist, producer and sonic architect. Known for infectious electronic beats, shimmering arpeggios and cinematic atmospheres, Popshop crafts soundscapes that feel both futuristic and strangely nostalgic.
On the other side: Roger Versey (St. Louis, USA) — lyricist, poet and charismatic voice. His words cut deep, poetic yet direct, politically aware yet timeless. His vocal delivery moves between intimacy and intensity, between whisper and manifesto.
Together they create something that is neither purely electronic nor traditionally alternative — it is a hybrid form of art-pop with a pulse.
THE SOUND
UTOPIA PLAY blends analog-inspired synth textures with pulsating electronic beats and vocoder-driven vocal layers, unfolding through cinematic build-ups and minimalist breakdowns that leave emotional hooks lingering long after the last note fades. Every track is carefully sculpted — from production to mixing — balancing clarity with atmosphere, structure with unpredictability.
The music feels like neon lights reflected in the rain, like a late-night drive through empty cities, like a manifesto whispered through a vocoder — a quiet revolution dressed in elegance.
